After the fiasco Tuesday evening, once I got home, I have had NO desire to leave the safety of my apartment. The problem is, I’ve been eating MYSELF out of house and home, and a grocery shopping was in order.
First to the post office to mail out two books (!). On the way I passed a man selling produce on the street - he did have a table… I bought a handful of zucchinis - about 6 or 7 for $1 (on the way back home I bought a bag of Idaho potatoes… also for $1).
After the post office, I went into the market. It was my “lucky” day. They had the canned corn for $1 a can and the same with the canned diced tomatoes! I also bought salad fixings, feta cheese and my favorite (junky type) food - fish cakes.
On the way home I bought a 1/4 squash from another sidewalk vendor. I now have food for quite a few days… all for under $40! If I ate in a restaurant, that money would last a day and a half - maybe two. With the grocery shopping… and what I already have in the house, it’ll go for maybe a week or so.
