I’m still here and doing great but every time I log on I see 15 new bookmarks and get overwhelmed and run away. This isn’t a new habit so I’m not sure why I write that as though it should be but…it’s true. Also, I always have about 75 things I want to tell you guys but then get overwhelmed with how big of an entry that would be and how much time I’d have to take to write it…and I run away again. Later, rinse, repeat.
So I’m popping into today to say we made it to 28 weeks!! This is Huge Milestone #2 and we made it. Hoping that if the little one comes early that at least now we’ve passed the point of severe longterm disability or cognitive insult. Woohoo!
Up next is 32 weeks where the baby would be pretty much full term other than needing to gain some weight and then the almighty 37 weeks where baby is Legit full term. One week, heck one day(!) at a time…we’re getting there :)
We’ve started Labor & Delivery classes and they’re going great. Rob is taking them very seriously and definitely learning a lot. We had the birth video this past week and he definitely was not expecting all that he saw. Ha. :) We both agreed we’d like my mom there as a backup/support/trade out person for Rob and she may just sit in the waiting room the whole time but if we need her, we both agreed it would be nice to have her close by. My labor may be quick, it may be hours (days! I hope not!) or might need a C-section…but my mom is a huge support and having her around especially if Rob gets exhausted or needs a break would be appreciated by both of us. I told her this plan and she delightedly agreed. :)
At my 28 week ultrasound today the tech made a huge slip and I was certain revealed the gender. My mom was there too and heard it as well but we talked it out and rationalized our way back to how maybe the tech didn’t mean it the way we took it and let’s not convince ourselves we’ve been spoiled. This tech also did a stupid quick zoom in right over the crotch while trying to measure the femur lengths and didn’t warn us to look away. I of course convinced myself I saw something the split second I was looking at the screen but then talked myself out of it again after reviewing Googled ultrasound images. I will be extra careful if we get this tech again to clarify we DON’T want to know gender and that we need to e warned before any crotch shots. All of the other techs have been awesome and just say ‘baby’ but this particular tech kept making stupid gender specific references and pissing me off. Oh well. My mom talked me down from that preggo-rage and even bought me lunch. She’s pretty much the best. :)
Ok, more to update later but for now I’ll leave you with a happy bump shot from this morning at the gym with my sister. I’m 28 weeks, she’s 34 weeks. Isn’t it crazy how differently people carry?!
