Here is PM David Cameron chatting to the former Mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg, at the UN. What do you chat about in these circumstances? Well DC told MB about phoning the Queen to tell her the result of the Scottish referendum - and she purred down the phone, presumably with pleasure.

The conversation was captured by a Sky News microphone - and shown a round the world. No PM should ever say what he and the Queen talked about - that is the convention - but Dave just loved to show what a big man he is - and is now very red-faced - I love this - he was caught out - he should be aware of the fact that there are cameras etc all over the place. He just cannot stop talking. he will be apologising personally to the Queen!!

By the way, do you think the Queen purred when Big Phil was doing the business?

And it looks like British planes will be bombing IS bases in Iraq very soon - is that likely to be useful - I suspect not - but at least they have learnt the lesson of the Blair/Bush invasion of 2003 - we are still living the the result of the disastrous unthought out conflict.
