At seven pm last night I was almost ready to leave the house for my u8 pm Home Group Meeting when I detained by an incoming phone call. It was John looking for a ride home from the Police Station in hnis town. It seems he had gone food and supply shopping. When he left the Market three cars parked in the narrow parking lot simultaneously decided to leave and all three collided with his innocent van.
Darn that was an inconvenient event. It did draw the attention of the Police Department who did a Field Inspection of John’s ability to drive and found it to be less that their liking. Always the polite and cooperative person John agreed to accompany them back to their domicile and to blow into a device designed to measure the amount of alcohol in your bloodstream. His result was a low .05 but he did tell them he was on meds do to a Doctor’s order. If only he had decided to withhold this information it might go better when he goes to Court.
I had to sign a Legal form that I would not allow him to drive while his abilities were impaired. The Police Officer said he knew john from around town and had a high opinion of his demeanor.
I drove John home just stopping to let him buy cigarettes as his were locked in the impounded vehicle. I proceeded to my 8 pm meeting arriving at 7:58 pm. I was mildly surprised to see my Sponsor there but he told me that he was concerned about me due to John’s actions. This did not surprise me and after the meeting I went home and watched the Jets get beaten by the Bears in a NFL Football contest.
John did tell me that if only those other drivers had not backed into him that all this would not have happened.
Life’s a bitch sometimes.
