I grew up in fostercare as a permanent ward of the government until my 18th birthday. A lot of the kids I grew up with would continue to be wards of the government past that as so many of them spent time in jail. I had one home until I was 5 and then my mum died of a heart attack at 1:30 am February 13. My social worker removed us at 9:am My next door neighbours became my next family. That lasted just over a year. I then went through 38 different foster families in the next 5 years. I also spent time in group homes, secure detention, open detention centres, hospitals, and institutions. With the exception of one particular institution and the secure detention I spent a lot of time as a runaway.
