Dear Diary,
Yesterday was a nothing kind of day. I slept a lot, despite spending most of Tuesday asleep. These days it seems I’m either walking around in the small hours with a busy brain or I’m sleeping like I expect a prince to wake me in 100 years. Never was a girl of happy mediums.
Tris came over yesterday morning. He had to pop into school as they are appealing his ICT grade then he wanted to come and show off his moped. I have such torn feelings about this damn bike. He loves it, loves having the freedom to escape from the wicked step mother and loves being able to be more or less where ever he wants when ever he wants. Tris inherited the tardiness gene from me, it is rare he is ever on time for anything so it was a bit of a shock when he rang me at 1000 asking to be let in, wasn’t expecting him until 1100.
I made the appropriate oohs and aahs. It seems like a reasonable bit of kit. Only 50cc and limited to 30mph as he is only 16. He looks incredibly grown up in leathers. Was it really 16 years ago that I pushed this child out? Seems more like 2 years ago.
Gave him tea and cake and then more or less threw him out as was starting to fall asleep again.
Did bugger all for the rest of the day other than cook supper. Made effort to stay up and spend some time with the hunk. We watched an episode of Silicon Valley which I adore. We watched the first episode without any real enthusiasm and it started slowly but so glad we persevered it is so funny and the characters are brilliant.
Come bed time, despite yawning my head off, it was like a switch was flicked and all of a sudden I was awake and doing a good impression of the duracell bunny. After yapping away to long suffering hunk for 45 mins I thought I’d best get up an let him sleep.
Good thing I did as no sooner downstairs than the phone started ringing. Was the Hunk’s mother, in tears. Seems the Hunk’s father was currently outside their house in an ambulance after further chest pains.
He had a heart attack two weeks ago tomorrow. Was first day of our hols in a cottage with bugger all phone signal. Thankfully it was minor. They described it as an A road not a motorway that had been affected. After a few days on the cardiac ward they sent him home with meds. They had ummed and ahhed about putting a couple of stents in but decided to try meds alone and see how he went.
So the Hunk’s mother wasn’t just letting us know, she wanted the Hunk to go to the hospital and meet ambulance there (we live significantly closer to hospital). Seems she finds it all too stressful and can’t do it all over again! I just don’t get that woman.
Made the Hunk a strong latte and sent him off. He got back just after 0500, they were still doing bloods and investigations but looks like another mild heart attack. Two in as many weeks. Not good.
Coincidentally I had nagged the Hunk to call them earlier in the evening as not spoken to them since he went and did their shopping on Saturday. He spoke to his Mum first and she was telling him how naughty his Father was being, lifting things he shouldn’t have been and generally doing too much. When he got to speak to his Dad it seems that whilst his Mum was doing a lot of telling off she was also making wistful comments about how the wallpapering would never get done now, or how the garden would suffer from no attention. Fucking woman.
I said, if the wallpapering or garden is that big a deal then we’ll go down and sodding do it.
Surely if ones partner of 40+ years has had a heart attack wallpapering should be the last thing on ones mind.
We offered that I would go and pick her up and bring her here so that she was close to the hospital in case anything happened or for visiting today. She thought that would be too difficult for her and that she probably wouldn’t sleep. Sigh
The Hunk got a couple of hours sleep and went back up to the hospital at 0930 ish. Have yet to hear what the deal is.
I got up, sorted the dog. Got myself a healthy breakfast of orange juice and chocolate and went back to bed as thought I’d just want to zonk again. Instead I’m wide awake so sat in the sunshine in the garden. Trying to enjoy the last of summer.
Want to try and sort photos from our hols today. We spent a week at home doing day trips and then a week in North Devon. Got some great pics from when we went to the science museum, @Bristol. Highly recommend to anyone headed that way. I’d taken the chilblians before about ten years ago. It’s a great place and there’s something for everyone of all ages. They were as entertained and enthralled this time as when we visited before.
Photos are lovely but editing is a pain in the arse.
