Classes start tomorrow. I got text notifications that a couple of the books I ordered should be delivered today. I’m hoping I can at least open one or two of them and get a mental headstart. I know me. Just getting started helps. I love schedules and have a weekly workout routine I want to stick to. Something about success cycles. Or knowing where my time is going on a week-to-week basis. Gym aside, I have weekly dinner plans with my dad, and latent plans with Erik for D&D. It’s important to socialize now and then. I know me, I can’t relax if I haven’t done something.

We tried going to the movies to see Ghostbusters yesterday. When we got there, we saw firetrucks everywhere. No smoke, but after our retail experience, we didn’t want to be those douchebags who came in and asked, “Hey, are you still open?” I thought about just going back to my place, but the thought made me anxious. I thought of going to the nearby ice cream place. But then thought, “Cliff’s is better.” I was driving, so we went to Cliff’s.

Ate our ice cream, yadda yadda. Made the mistake of listening to music without the engine on. Poor Clarissa wouldn’t turn over. Had three people attempt to jump me. I don’t know what the hell I was doing wrong, but it didn’t work. I adjusted the cables and everything multiple times! Had some guys even try to .. pop start it in first? If that means anything to you.

Elissa called her brother for a ride back to the dorm. I borrowed her phone to call AAA. I was hanging out with her, so naturally I didn’t think much of accidentally leaving my cell phone at home. Go figure. She left, and I had time by myself to contemplate all the worst-case scenarios. Did my starter die? Is it my alternator? Is it my battery? How am I getting home? How am I getting back to the shop tomorrow to deal with this? WHAT DO I DO?

I’ve called AAA enough times to know someone from Ron and Son’s always comes down. Friendly, never check your license or any of that shit. I technically don’t even have AAA, I just use my dad’s information. Anyway, we joked that he didn’t want to tow and I didn’t want to tow, so he used his portable charge thingie and Clarissa started right up. I do wonder if I just had a brain fart with the lead on the one side that had a plastic piece to keep you from electrocuting yourself.

I mean, the battery may the original battery (six years old), but she never had issues starting all winter, and it was a pretty bad winter. For peace of mind, I think I’ll get two new front tires and a battery before winter.

I’m relaxing in my underwear. I think I’ll play Final Fantasy X a bit before heading to the gym.
