Jeff’s moved back in.
Ergh, he’s gonna drive me crazy in no time. It’s only been one day and he’s already started with the notes on the kitchen bench. This time it’s about the kettle. He wants to buy a new one and get us all to chuck in 5 bucks for it. There’s nothing wrong with the one we have, which he’s cleaned out and sanitized as well anyway.
Luckily I’ve lived with him a few times before and know what he’s like. I pre-warned the current housemates what he’s like, and I’m sure they met him last night. I passed one of them coming home on my way to work and said, “Jeff’s here” and he just laughed. I’m just gonna keep it short as I feel talking about him is a negative thing. From what I can see after 24 hours, he hasn’t changed a bit, although is now sporting a rats-tail and has gained a little bit of weight lol. Help me.
I freaked out two nights ago. I happened to go outside to feed the fish, as I hadn’t been there because I crashed the night at Rhys’ party. I went to the lower pond first to sprinkle some pellets in, and there was no water in there!!
At first, I wasn’t sure if it was just me because it was dark. I’d gotten home and had a nap to catch up on much-needed sleep since I’d pretty much spent the whole night doing anything but sleeping haha.
But yep - definitely no water in there. I scoured the base of the pond for dead fish! I was freaking out. Where the fuck had all the water gone??
I then noticed there were a few select puddles remaining in there, and hoped that the fish had been smart enough to move themselves to those areas. It really didn’t leave much room for them to move at all, much less swim anywhere.
I immediately grabbed the garden hose and refilled the pond. It took around 45 minutes. I hoped that the fresh water wouldn’t be too much of a shock for the fish in there. I couldn’t see any laying helpless, so my hope was they were still okay.
The pond filled and I couldn’t see it leaking anywhere. It left me confused.
I messaged Andrew and told him what I’d just noticed. He reckons the pump must have been left on. Come to think of it, the new housemate did have a party on the weekend and I heard the water trickling down the rocks, so he’d obviously turned it on. It must have remained on all night. I didn’t realize it would drain the pond however.
After I filled it, I could see two fish swimming around in there. There should be quite a lot more, but I haven’t noticed them, so who knows. The top pond is fine, it wasn’t affected at all thankfully, as the pump is only in the bottom pond.
Sheesh. Housemates, I tell ya what!
