Happy Labor Day! in Day to day life from a woman that turned 60 in Oct 2014 and who lives on a farm and Retired on January 2, 2016. I plan to do more sewing, work outside in the yard and just enjoy my retirement.

Copied the following from the internet: “The first Labor Day was held in 1882. Its origins stem from the desire of the Central Labor Union to create a holiday for workers. It became a federal holiday in 1894. It was originally intended that the day would be filled with a street parade to allow the public to appreciate the work of the trade and labor organizations. After the parade, a festival was to be held to amuse local workers and their families. In later years, prominent men and women held speeches. This is less common now, but is sometimes seen in election years. One of the reasons for choosing to celebrate this on the first Monday in September was to add a holiday in the long gap between Independence Day and Thanksgiving.”

This has been a lazy hazy weekend for me. This morning it is finally raining. Our weather has said it was going to rain 2 out of 3 day weekend, but it has waited until today. I ended up watering the flowers and veggies yesterday with the lack of rain but now they should be good for several days. They are saying now that we will get a respite from the rain around mid morning and then a severe thunderstorm is possible later this afternoon. Have no idea what will really develop but praying nothing causing damage. So after forcing all of us to use plastic at the grocery store, now CA is forcing consumers to use paper or bring your own. Hummmm, the public are just puppets ready to adhere to a whim at the moment and then when that whim backfires, the public are expected to change AGAIN or pay.

Yesterday I didn’t feel too great although couldn’t really tell you why. Just didn’t feel good and had no energy at all. Didn’t lay down though and did attempt a few things. It took all day but I did try a craft project. I had bought some picture frames and had some picture frames so tried my hand at a combo. The project minus my time probably cost no more than $3. I plan to buy some more burlap and may do more in the future. Still have some things to work out but I was pleased with the results. Need to print the Cardinal again and realign it a bit, but it will suffice for now. Posting it’s a picture of the picture frames creation.

A few weekends ago I worked on a 3d frame set. 3 dollar tree frames hot glued together. I used a stiff craft fabric for the background, a $1 package of 3d stickers and the results were pretty cute I thought. I did get a bit sloppy with the glue but you really think it is part of the design when you look at it on the wall. Thank Goodness!!the results were pretty cute I thought.
