Might Not Be Able To Do That in Everyday Ramblings

I am writing this on my laptop. Remember my laptop? I am slowly moving everything back on it where all my pictures have been restored. This gorgeous faded hollyhock is from this time last year. I haven’t been taking as many pictures as I would like this year. And now the light is fading. Of course that also means the fall colors are coming on here in the gloom.
We are heading into our end of summer holiday on Monday here in the United States and I am cheered to know I have a long weekend ahead. Lots of folks are leaving early today and it is already very quiet at work. Nice!
I truly appreciate all the suggestions for birthday gifts for Miss E. I have decided on one thing and have had it approved by her parental unit, my niece, but I sure as heck am having a frustrating time actually acquiring said gift.
As a busy, happy, almost 14-year-old Miss E. doesn’t check out her great aunt’s diary/blog but she does have the URL, so I will be discreet. Let’s just say that it involved traipsing all over town on foot yesterday afternoon and evening to no avail. After consultation with Kes I have a workaround that will give her the same result. But arghhh! The best intentions and affection were the drivers and I’ll just focus on that.
I completed my dental work this week! Yippee. At least for now. This round. I am thrilled to have it over and my mouth back to full functionality.
My oldest sister has been released from her surgeon and her visiting nurse and is now in the adaptive and strength building phase of her recovery. She is getting out on her own a bit almost every day and has registered at this club in her neighborhood that is only for cancer survivors. She signed up for their free gentle yoga class.
Oh and speaking of yoga classes, this week I went up to the unit at the hospital where I teach during a weekday and met with the day nurses (during their report) to tell them what and how I do what I do. I was pretty nervous; these are the senior well-seasoned nurses. Most of them didn’t have a clue, not only what I was doing, but that I was doing it!
That night I have three caregiver moms and the unit coordinator in my class.
Now all I need to do is find a studio to teach regular classes in on this side of town…
It would help if I looked.
I have so much enjoyed having these last eight weeks (mostly) off though with no classes to prepare. I have been learning about Anatomy (as well as the history of Philosophy). The forearm is pretty amazing when you look at how it is designed, how the bone moves across in a diagonal when you turn your palm from face up to face down.
The newest Louise Penny mystery in the Chief Inspector Gamache series is out now and I have been listening to the audio book. The film version of the first book is also being broadcast on the CBC and is available here on Acorn. Kes signed up for that yesterday so that she can watch the last Poirot mysteries as well.
It has taken me weeks, and I am not kidding here, to get through the first episode of Game of Thrones. What a visual treat that series is. I don’t think I’ll be signing up for Acorn anytime soon.
I am hoping to start physically interacting with humanity on a more regular basis after next week. But how that will manifest has yet to be determined. The church year starts and my Women’s Circle will be back to it’s more manageable schedule in the church building instead of out at member’s homes. For many reasons I am thinking about leaving the group this year but not unless I find something to replace it and it is such a wonderful institution I just might not be able to do that.
