As I was driving home from work today I was kinda fuming about the situation we’re stuck in…our employee situation hasn’t improved, if anything it’s gotten worse. I just got done working 7 straight and I’m jumping right into another, with many of my shifts being extending because of us having to cut someone’s hours. Really, it’s the 3 of us managers running the store. 14 hours a day, 7 days a week, just the 3 of us. It’s ridiculous and I wanted to vent about it…
However, as I was on that short roughly 2 minute drive home I passed 3 people who stopped to wave at me with beaming smiles and I couldn’t help but wave and smile right back. These are people that, although I’ve lived in this tiny little town for 14 years, I never would’ve met if it weren’t for my job. Sweet people that’s simply existence brightens my day.
By the time I got home I was actually a little teary eyed with the overwhelming love I feel for my job :) Yeah, the amount of time I’m having to put in right now sucks BUT I love the people I’m putting in that time with. Yeah, there’s asshole customers BUT there’s even more great ones. I might dislike the long hours here recently BUT I still never dread going to work. And THAT is always something to be thankful for :)

That's awesome. I love how when you work in retail (or I used to work at Applebee's) you get to meet a wide range of people that you never would have met before. Some of them being really nice and some of them straight dicks. BUT it was nice to have those regular customers that brightened up your day. I still miss working at Applebee's sometimes and meeting new people.
I was actually thinking the other day how we meet so many people and they are in and out of our lives at times doing their own thing, but something will bring us together (a cook-out or party) and I just love LIFE. We all do our own thing, but there are those MOMENTS that bring us TOGETHER and I love that. Those TOGETHER moments that just fit at the right place and the right time. I know that's kind of rambling off from your entry, lol and doesn't have much to do with it, but that's what I was thinking about the other day. :) ♥
