It’s a rainy day here in the city. The rain always reminds of the Leonard Cohen song, “Famous Blue Raincoat”.
It’s been so hot recently that we really needed the rain. If not for the environment, then for myself. Gives me an excuse to just read the day away or relax from all the problems in the world.
I’ve been wanting to watch a movie too and thought maybe later today I would. I have a big list that I’ve been wanting to get through, but a few weeks ago my favorite website was taken down. So now I have to find a new one.
I would go walk downtown to the theatre but going there is just too damn expensive to really justify spending the money for. Especially going solo. Maybe I’ll catch a play later on, I’ve always had a soft spot for plays (although I find they can be very cheesy if not done right) and are typically way cheaper.
But who knows, maybe I’ll just work on my book list. I’ve been meaning to find a PDF version of the books I’ve been wanting to read, particularly the philosophy section.
At first I didn’t like reading on a device but over the last few years I’ve gotten use to it. I still wish to hold a physical copy of a book, but when money and physical space are limited, it’s nice to be able to read a book without worrying about those two factors.
Most of what I’ve read the last few years has been philosophy, poetry and a little non-fiction (mostly historical literature).
So that’s what Monday is like for me today. A good but uneventful day. I just thought about how nice it would be to go to a small bar, alone and write. But alas, a 20 year old can’t get a drink. Thanks Reagan, you bastard.
