Yesterday I went into Perranporth, today I’ve been here all day, our resent days have hours of summer, and times of October like weather; the next few days we have a northern wind blowing in at 15 C or in old money 59 F! In my home town the locals would tell you we are at the end of summer, the annual Shrewsbury Flower Show was a week ago, once the show has come and gone summer is waning, but we will all hope there will be an Indian Summer; it’s said if we have an Indian Summer there will be a severe frost after.

It a time of small jobs, we also have a sizable job in progress, I cut the grass yesterday, Lola with be happy the grass cut low as it had grown enough so that she couldn’t step over; little legs make things difficult! The other job is the meadow, in main job is cutting back the brambles, it will run amuck in any area of ground; and there is plenty here ….

The bramble has a sweet burry in late August and September, but alas it has fierce thorns all the time; gardening gloves never quite keep the thorns at bay! If you listen to people dealing with the brambles in there gardens, you will notice them talking to at the brambles; but I wont say just what words are on their lips - where is Thomas Bowdler when you need him ….
