Well, its monday. So we’re at work. How was your weekend? Mine was fine, thanks.
Actually fine is a bit of an understatement. I’ll give you the quick breakdown.
Friday I drove down to Sheffield to pick up cousin Ricky, Jo and Fox. I took the motorway down but decided that this was no fun at all so we drove up past York on the way back. The plan was to drop into the Viking centre but sadly this was closed by the time we got there so we had a wander around and a drink (non-alcoholic for me, obviously) then set off on our way again.
Got back to Newcastle around 7:30 pm and decided that we couldn’t be bothered to cook so we got a chinese take-out instead and watched “Troll 2”. It’s still the worst movie ever and now Ricky and Jo have experienced its awfulness as well.
Decided to put the diet on hold for the weekend so I’ve also had drinks and not been watching my weight. I’m going to have to be extra strict with myself this week to make up for it. Hey ho, everything has a price.
Saturday rose up on us and the decision was made that we would spend it in town. Coffee and breakfast in Eldon Square and we were set up for the day. We went to both the Discovery museum and the Life Museum.
Incidentally, if you haven’t been to see the Body worlds plastination in the Life centre yet, go see it. It’s very interesting. They’ve basically developed this technique where they can turn a body into plastic and then disassemble it so you can see it broken down. You can appreciate it as art or science, whichever you prefer. Here, check this one out.
In the evening I made my famous Thai green curry and we played Arkham Horror which is a fun board game by Fantasy Flight.
Sunday we went to the coast. Headed to the Tynemouth market where Jo bought a chisel. As you do. I bought sausages. Then we went to Whitley Bay Lighthouse and sat on the rocks watching seals.
For tea I cooked up the sausages and some roast chicken and we had them with potato and salad. We watched “A Touch of Cloth” which was a pretty funny spoof TV show and talked away the evening.
Then at about 8pm my Mum called to tell me that I’m an Uncle again. Emma has had a baby boy and they’re both fine. I couldn’t be more chuffed for them. They’d have never said it, of course, but I think they wanted a boy as they already have two daughters. Haven’t found out what the name is yet but I’m looking forward to meeting the newest addition to the family when I’m back in Penrith next.
So yeah. Good weekend really. Hope you’re all froody too.
