Friday finished my week with a HUGE bang and lots of brainwork.
Eric was there with me, Greg was once again taking the day off. Great, I love it. Besides, Eric says, Fridays all summer have been very slow, very low in seat sales and generally relaxing.
Steve, driver, had the day off so we had Joe and Shelby. Joe to drive White Pass tours and Shelby to drive Dolly.
Eric and I ended up selling 111 seats Friday. A huge amount for any day, but particularly for Friday. A financial group traveling from San Francisco was onboard a ship Friday. One tour director came in, talked, was glad we gave a 10% off on fares sof 8 or more people.
The first group took up most of Joe's 10:30am 3 hour tour. Meanwhile, more of them flooded in wanting to go too, together if possible. I reserved 18 seats with Wendel, who is trying to start a "God vs Gold' tour which we are selling. But he can drive when we need him.
I told the next 'leader' I would hold 18 plus 25 seats for him. He paid for 11, and assured me he would send in members of his group to pay and sign up for the seats. I had 43 seats altogether.
So that's what we did, signing up and not paying too much attention to who went on what vehicle, they could sort this sout for themselves.
About half hour before tour time, I counted passengers based on the charge tickets I had held out of the drawer so as not to lose count. The last 5 to come in, a man and wife and 2 daughters--I had only 4 seats left.
However, I told the father that ifi he would show up, maybe I miscounted and he could go too. He was happy with this.
So, it started pouring rain when it was time to load. I went out with umbrella and stood in the rain while Wendel's bus was loaded with 18 and Joe showed up about 7 minutes after that.
They began loading onto Joe's bus and at my count, there weren't enough seats for the father to have one. (free, I had told him rather than take money I might have to refund)....
At the end of the line, he stepped aboard to see if there was a seat for him and there was!!! His 2 daughters were skinny enough teens that everyone crowded together and when he stepped aboard, everyone cheered and applauded.
I stepped on the bus and asked them if they were applauding my inability to count seats and people. This was followed with a roar of laughter, more applause and shouts that I should join them too so they could have more fun!
Not only that, but Wendel's bus had 19 people aboard. Joe's had 26! Boy oh boy!
I stayed an hour and a half over to help Eric with this. I had that 'high' from handling so many people that day, the personal interaction with the last group, and feeling so competent and able.
Today, Saturday, I went to the sewing trailer and made cuffs and a collar for another blouse. I am getting better each time, especially the collar and I am REALLY pleased with it.
That is all, I am in need of a rest, another rest, whatever.
Blessed be!
