Unpacking
So I’m nearly done setting up the new place! The living room is done and the bedroom/my office are like 90% finished. Jessica’s office is a bit further back but she’s busy studying for a pharmacy law exam on Friday so she’s taking a break from unpacking until then.
The final thing I need to finish is the garage. I’ve been dreading it a bit (and putting it off) for two reasons.
Number 1… I told myself the second I’m done with the garage I’m dieting and working out again. And I’m not one of those people who are like “wow I’m gonna work out everday and it’s gonna be awesome.” Working out and dieting both are awful and I hate them. But they really do help me feel better and I’m not getting any younger so I just gotta suck it up and do it.
Number 2… SPIDERS. Oh my god it’s like spider fucking city in there. Every time I go to lift a box I see like 2 or 3 of them little bitches and literal shivers go down my spine because they’re my third biggest fear (number 2 is lighting and number 1 is heights). A week back I went through and sprayed the hell out of the place with bug killer. It seems to have worked because now it’s mostly dead spiders but a couple of them bastards are hanging on apparently.
Well a few of the shelves in our old garage were adopted from Jessica’s parents but they weren’t very good shelves (old rusty and wobbly) so I left them behind and went to Lowe’s today and got a new shelf. We already have this massive shelf from Kobalt and I figured I’d just get the next biggest shelf but I messed up and got a really small one haha. It was not much less expensive but it’s like 1/2 the size.
The photo doesn’t do it justice, but the shelf on the left is 7 feet tall. The one of the right was only like 100 bucks less and it’s SO MUCH SMALLER haha. Oh well I still like it.
Living room!
Drive
Unfortunately every time we’ve moved, Jessica has trouble’s getting her medications moved to new pharmacy’s so we end up having to drive back to the old places to get her medications. Well this time was no different. We were gonna go to her parents house for a couple days and my understanding was that it was for her medication.
I was like “why can’t your mom pick it up and meet us halfway? Hell I’ll even drive a little further to make it easier for her?”
And she tells me they wanted to go get their nails done together.
For real?
That’s why we’re driving 4+ hours both ways and staying for two nights? For nails?
Nah. To help you get your medications, sure. But not for something superficial like nails.
I rarely do this, but I put my foot down and was like “Listen, you go if you want but if this is about some nail appointment I’ll just stay home.” She got a little pouty about it but seemed to understand.
Well sure enough, the day comes where she needs to drive down and what do you know she doesn’t feel good and doesn’t want to make the drive. So they canceled the nail appointment and we met halfway.
Like listen… I love my wife but sometimes she doesn’t stop and think about things. Is this drive and staying for 2 nights worth that? And no, this isn’t some family quality time thing. We lived down the road from them for the last year and we just saw them 10 days ago.
Anyway this photo I got of her in the car sleeping with Bear made the trip worth it for me.
Random stuff
I got a $200 bill from the gas company for 10 days of service. Excuse me? The only thing running on gas right now is the water heater because I haven’t cooked here yet. Ain’t no shot we used anywhere near 5% of that. I gotta remember to call them tomorrow.
Parents
Oh and my parents came by to visit that was nice! They brought their RV to Oklahoma for a different reason and were only about an hour from us so drove by to visit for a while! I think they really liked my new place.
Funny thing… my dad is REALLY into YouTube. Like that’s all he watches these days. So much that I upgraded my YouTube premium to a family plan and added him because I was so sick of sitting through ads every time I visited.
I don’t know if any of you understand this, but I HATE ads to my core. I will do anything to avoid them.
Does your service offer an ad-free tier? I’m in…
I have a whole home ad blocker loaded on my network server.
I have ad blockers on all my browsers.
I’m currently buying as many movies as I can because it seems like all of these streaming services are slowly going back to ad supported models. I’m scared they will stop offering ad-free tiers all together.
Anyway.... yeah I hate ads lol. So when I go to my parents place and they are watching normal TV and ads are coming on every 8 minutes I want to throw myself off the nearest cliff.
Oh yeah… back to the my dad and YouTube.
So basically every time he and I are together he shows me this one video of a group of musicians playing this song and he is SO STOKED to show me and forgets that he already showed me. I swear it’s been like 10 times and sure enough, he comes to my house and asks me to search it up and I’m like “sure dad let’s watch it” I don’t have the heart to remind him I’ve already seen it haha.
I don’t think he’s got like early dementia or anything, he seems to remember everything else fine. I think he’s just consumes so much YouTube he forgets what he’s already shown me!
Anyway he also wrecked his drone the day before they got here and I was so happy I could help him out because that model of drone he has, I got like 4 more of them haha. So I swapped his broken one out with one of mine. He was so concerned that I was gonna pay to get it fixed he wanted to reimburse me and I was like “trust me DJI will fix this for me, I got a guy!” lol I love to flex my clout a little bit.
Anyway that’s all for now! :)
