I’m in bed today. in Hot town, summery in the city - 2017

Seriously folks, 50 seems to be a turning point in the body!! A few days ago I was talking to my neighbour and mentioned my front garden with its tall grass, weed riddled stones and tree that was getting very straggly. I said I was finding it frustrating because the long covid makes it hard to tackle. She commented that she hadn’t been well for years but keeps on top of her garden by having a nap afterwards. There was no malice in her comment but I’m aware that my garden is the focal point from their living room so I waited until today. I thought Saturday I don’t need To do anything else so I would have a go.

I spent a little over two hours in the garden in which time I pulled up most of the weeds from the gravel. The more embedded ones stayed and I left the two by four foot section of grass that had crept forward. I then pruned the tree. This is a maple that we got as a stick with a bud on it when T was 3 and L nearly 1. We didn’t know what it was nor did the spotty youth in the garden centre who had obviously been told to hand these things out to customers. My garden isn’t big enough for a maple so I have trained it into being a very small version of itself by pruning every two weeks throughout growing seasons since we got it. Until last summer when the long covid was worse than it is now. I think I did it twice last year and I didn’t do the top which requires a step ladder so it had a bit of a punk-do.
Today I even made it to the top using the step ladder. Throughout the job I kept having dizzy spells like some Victorian lady of weak constitution, and having to grab hold of the green (garden waste) bin. But I did it. Well, except the grass, that’s still über long.

And since then I have been in bed. I’ve had two sleeps and just feel wobbly. I just took my BP which is 113/72 which is a little low for me, but only a little. Perhaps that’s why the dizziness.

Anyway. I’m now utterly fucked off with being like a Victorian lady of weak constitution and I’m bloody ready to kick arse like I used to in the olden days!!
