I don't know that I can capture it. Never really can. So what else is new. We left the house early on Thursday after bringing our house sitters to the house Wed night. They somehow forgot that I was picking them up/lost track of time/some such thing. Thankfully I called them ahead of time to remind them that i'd be there. Other wise they wouldn't have even been packed. sigh (Said friend doesn't drive.) We packed the car Wed night and we were SO NERVOUS about the car because it's smaller than the old car and we didn't think stuff would fit. ("We" mainly being Cyndi...) but it did fit and I was very happy about it....until I realized I'd left out the entire MASSIVE duffle bag that had our entire wardrobe for the whole trip packed in there. Thankfully that fit too with some adjustments. We got out to camp Thurs night which was super nice, and not something we normally get to do. But since we're considered family, we got to be there early. :) We set up camp next to BIL Giant's camp and he'd pretty much copied our plan from last year. HA! Our camp still looked better though...if I do say so myself. And I do. We slept Thurs night and then drove to Giant and Hobbit's house (the inlaws) for showers and make up then headed back out to Faerie Worlds! I worked most of Friday at Admissions which is enjoyable and you get to see some of the behind the scenes goodness. It also lets me see people as they first enter, and I'm one of the first people they see. Which is fun. Friday afternoon was SJ Tucker who is always amazing, but sadly she had a rough time. She still played three of my favorite songs so I wasn't sad t all. That night was Omnia and omg...they rocked the house so hard. Saturday we'd planned to dress in pirate attire. And we did...for a short while. We gamed pretty much all day on and off. D&D!! It was fun, though frustrating...because people had to come and go and one person in particular was extremely frustrating, angering and just...a dick. He wasn't a friend of ours or anything, just a pick up player. Gah he sucked. I love LOVE this picture so much!! The red beared guy was the asshole we didn't care for. Our lovely friend Sandra showed up with her dragon friends: Rather terrible picture...but we came across this triple moon chair with the horned one up top. We figured we'd take a picture right then, lest we forget to come back in the day light. Sunday we finished up the game, wandered around some...and just generally had a good day. It was the day I'd been waiting for. My rainbow faerie costume debut. I beelined for the professional face painter and finally had my face done for the first time. She's been there every year, and I've never had my face done. I always figured it was too expensive. No idea why. It was $5!!
Cyndi and I: Someone helped me tuck my skirt front into my waist line so I could wear the skirt for much more of the day. I did end up taking it off at around 4 because it was too heavy and hot. I also had my rainbow umbrella, though no pictures with it.
This person is Rainbow Rex. Every year ze's a rainbow colored person. So we were asked to please take pictures together. Which we happily did! Per name is Koe and ze uses the same pronouns as me, which is not something I'm used to EVER happening. We're both queer, we both love rainbows and we're both educators. Hell yea!
I always do this with my hand when I'm getting my picture taken. lol!! I'm not much of a model...eh. It's alright.
I have no idea what I'm doing here.... We tore down camp Monday morning and won't be returning to Emerald Meadows again. Faerie Worlds is moving on (being forced out...actually) to another venue. In Portland next year. I have been super inspired and wanting to be creative. I want all new outfits next year. The rainbow faerie is in, it's a keeper and it's done. But I'm doing with the pirate outfit, and the fawn elf was fun, but meh. I'm over it. We'll see what next year brings. Day one we're back to full circle though. I'm going to be a blue faerie and Cyndi will be a purple faerie. Just as it was five years ago. Kind of funny, we didn't plan it that way...that's just what we wanted to do.

I saw Faerieworlds listed on GeekPortland.com. It intrigued me, but I couldn't bring myself to drive that far. Maybe if it is in Portland next year I can check it out. Looks like so much fun.

That's kinda funny to me that you felt it was too far away. Eugene is an hour and a half to two hours away from Portland depending on where you're at in the city. I drive that in my normal commute to work. Perspective is funny. It's an awesome event. For sure. :)

I commute half an hour daily so don't care to drive much on weekends. Though my coworkers think I'm crazy to live where I do, it takes me less time to get home than it does them within Portland.

You're so creative! I get ideas to do stuff like that and...don't follow through. Good for you!
