Sunday and we are between the effects of the once hurricane ‘Bertha’ that has crossed the Atlantic to join us in it’s lesser guise ‘Bertha the storm’ Our weather forecasters have been quite excited about this tail end of an American hurricane visiting, once more Cornwall has escaped the worst of Bertha; it is the areas near to London and the city its self have experienced flash floods and lighting.

Friday was a day of a bright overcast skies and a little sunshine in the afternoon, but not for long and we were back under the overcast. We are about in the in the peak of the Perseid meteor shower, Friday Saturday and Sunday are the busy nights, but this year’s event clashes with the Supermoon, a period when we have a full moon while it is at perigee, closest to the Earth! The news people are warning the Supermoon could overshadow the meteors, they seem to over looked a ten tenths cloud cover can create a total block – out; never mine overshadowing!

So we have tonight and perhaps Monday and Tuesday, then we will well be beyond the peak, the number of meteors well dwindle, but it might be good keep an eye on the shy; as the Perseid Shower has twice the numbers of Fireballs than any other shower! Saturday was our wet day, it seemed a long time coming as we could feel odd spots of rain most of the day, once it was here it settled down for the evening.

With Bertha’s weather drivelling in our Agility and Behaviour class’s were cancelled, the Sunday morning agility class was going ahead, it turned out it was just Ziggy and one other! We gave Lola the day off, she’s seemed rather tired recently. We had thought the class would be cancelled due to the weather, and then we were not be caught in the traffic around Newquay, there is a three day surfing event and side by side a music festival. I was lucky as I managed both way to be going the opposite way to the crowds.

Looking on the BBC News on line I found a report of the weather problems across the country, not to mention the up and down as there warnings of sever weather in Scotland, the Highlands being one area mentioned. After working down a stack of photographs of floods about the country, I came to the last image, tents at Newquay’s Boardmasters Festival, reported to be blown away; nothing quite like that here; we’re just seven miles away!
