Today is the day of the big 20 week ultrasound! To say I'm excited to see my sweet little one's face would be an understatement, of course. I can't wait to hear if he or she has both kidneys (I only have one) and a growing brain and a functional heart and that they are growing on track and happy and healthy in there...oh I can't wait! And to see Rob's face as we scan from head to toe and get to 'meet' our baby a little bit will just be the icing on top. He gets so sentimental and squishy and soft and vulnerable when anything about this baby comes up. It may be my second favorite part of all of this. :) I also can't wait to put a face to the jabs, punches, pokes and squirming that is swirling around in there! Add in that my dreams lately have been all kinds of crazy (including that the baby didn't have a face, just a bunch of teeth growing in a head......) and those can end any time with some calming from a healthy scan. :)
We are still 100% happy with not finding out gender (while we're not waiting as a ploy to upset people, this partially sums up where my head is at: http://www.daddyfiles.com/7-reasons-not-to-find-out-the-sex-of-the-baby/ ) and hoping there isn't a wiggle in the wrong direction at the wrong time...not that either Rob nor I could decipher it if they did!
Today also starts the every two week doctor appointments and every four week ultrasounds to monitor intrauterine growth. For those of you who follow fellow PBer ParadiseFOUND then you know the realities of uterine anomalies and the risks of premature delivery. Her little one is doing so well at 2 months old but was born at an itty bitty 3lbs, 3 oz and certainly faced some risks and challenges being so small. I will be monitored closely for intrauterine growth restriction as my uterus is so much smaller than normal but here's hoping the scan today goes well and baby is right on track and my nearly 6 foot tall self allows ample room for that little one to stretch out.
Will update with pictures afterward - so excited to SEE in there and say hello to my belly bean!! :)
