Now the heat... after the dust in blackpropaganda

Is there no end to the work that is being done here - after the window man comes the plumber. He was here the week before last to try to find out why our central heating system does not heat the hot water tank. he did - the pipes were solid with hard matter - nothing could get through - but it needed radical work on the pipes. We were not worried since we do not have the heating on in the summer and can use an immersion heater. We certainly did not want them trying to sort it while the windows were being done. So this afternoon the plumber called to see if this was a good time - and when he established what needed doing he called a colleague - and after an hour or so they sorted it. However the whole system needs chemically flushing (that came out as 'fucking') out to get rid of all the gunge causing the trouble. They put it in the system and then come back in a week to flush it all out - but you have to have the CH on to get it sound the system. In the summer!!! Thank goodness the heat is much less now. And you just have it on for a few hours at a time. We have windows open letting the heat out!!!! What with cutting the lawn, and generally faffing around we are a little tired!!!! Not complaining though - we should have a toasty house for the winter.

And, hey, today is when the UK, and much of Europe commemorate the beginning of the First World War with the UK Declaration of War against Germany on August 4th 1914. Lots of remembrance here - and a lot of guff. Just interesting the Google is noting the birth of John Venn - ah yes, when did the US come in? 1917 - Nuff said.
