if my plane should go down
mourn me as were you my widow
even though we never even kissed
if the pilot faints from drink
think of me as were were lovers
even though I never even had the courage
to ask you out for coffee
if some fool brings a bomb on-board
to please her imaginary god in blood
pretend for me
that we'd had ten thousand years together
through good times and bad
that we had fucked and fought and made up once again
more times than anyone could think to count
and waltzed like that down through the ages
if the mechanic forgot just one important bolt
don't remember me as perfect
Christ not that
I would never want that
no sane man would ever want that
but if I should die
by fire in the sky
remember me as if
I had once been yours
at least for one moment pretend
that's all that I could ask for
