3am 7-25, Bandit kitty was playing wildly with a small toy, scrabbling and scrambling, making lots of noise. Bill and I had both woken up to pee and were settling back in, laughing and commenting over Bandit's wildness.
I settled back on the futon to resume sleep when I felt what I thought was Bandit somehow grabbing the underside of the mattress and shaking me. I sat up and realized it was an earthquake. Bill in his recliner sat up too. He was rocking all over the place, bobbin like an apple in water. The futon was shaking east to west.
"Earthquake"! I said. He agreed and settled back when the rocking stopped to go to sleep. I hopped up to get online to check with the West Coast Tsunami Information website to see if I could settle back down to sleep as well. No internet connection.
Oh well, I turned my phone on so I could get text alert from the cop shop if there was any problem. So convenient to have text alerts by cellphone from the cop shop, just sign up and there you go. Ah, I could go back to sleep.
Just as I was drifting off, I realized I hadn't signed up for those alerts on this new cellphone number. By that time, I decided if I floated away, well, that was okay and I went back to sleep.
No internet, hmmm. Bill called AP&T and found that the marine cable that provides service from Juneau was cut and they didn't know when service would be restored. No credit card charging for those who used the internet yesterday for the tourists. And still no trains running, so it was a busy day for the town.
I have been up this morning since 3am. I woke thinking of Madame and got up to potty, her lights are on in the house and porch light on too. I textedher "What do you need? What can I do?" Haven't heard anything, maybe nothing, but not likely, she has had a hard week with her fibromyalgia and I am not ignoring Spirit's promptings any longer. I wrote of my Sunday nervousness over her and not being able to get hold of her. She does shut her phone off when she is resting, and I know this and so wasn't alarmed, but was on high alert and well I should have been.
Today is another dark and dreary cloud-covered morning at 5am. Cool and a bit foggy as well. I'm up, Let's see what I can do to occupy myself...
Blessed be!
