Gender Question in The Day To Day Ramblings

So, after asking our due date, the next question I always get is "So when do you get to find out the gender?!" This has irked me more & more every time the question is repeated as we don't plan to find out & have no interest in all in knowing. I almost have to talk people down as they try to convince us why finding out is so necessary!

That being said, I'm now really curious why so many people (vast majority by my informal calculation) find out the gender. I understand doing screenings & making sure baby is healthy & has all of its important parts but why the need to have to know gender?

No judgments, I am just so curious because it is so different than where my mind is. So, please, share your gender stories whether you chose to wait or chose to find out! :)
