After work 'drinks' in Adventures in paradise

I went out 'drinking' with some of my workmates last night, as one of them had his last day yesterday. I say 'drinking' because I didn't actually drink at all, still being on antibiotics and all. I didn't think it would be a very good idea. My manager bought an extra long island iced tea that got passed around the table a few times, as nobody wanted it, so it was VERY tempting to just down that for myself. I resisted though. I knew that a Long Island's effect on me would probably be ten-fold given the drugs I'm on. One guy already had one and didn't want another, and my manager was drinking beer and the other guy who was leaving wasn't drinking too much as he had to drive back to the Gold Coast to pack and whatnot for his move to Melbourne.
I finished my shift earlier and my manager let me out, asking if I was coming. I'm still coughing like a motherfucker (God-damn it) so I didn't really feel like it, but I decided it would be the last time I'd see my workmate, so said I'd just drop my bag off at home and would head down. So I did that, and hung around home for a little bit. I took another antibiotic, as I try to take them around every 8 hours. It's more-so gotten to the point where I just want to finish the damn things off. I'm down to my last packet, so I've almost completed the course. Probably a few more days to go. I changed from my work shorts into some jeans and headed down. It was already 8 degrees outside at midnight, so I rugged up pretty well. I hated that this cough was still lingering and that I was outside in the cold, again. I feel like I'm never going to be able to get better :(
I rocked up to the Pig & Whistle (it seems to be our local) but I couldn't see anyone! Where the hell were they? Had they decided to go elsewhere? So I went for a bit of a walk to a park and just sat down on a bench, you know, randomly. After a while, I decided to check the pub again, and I saw two of the guys. I gave them both a hug and sat down. My manager then joined us as he was at the bar getting drink. He'd bought drinks for everyone, which explained the extra long-island, but he hadn't bought one for me as I guess he thought I hadn't arrived yet. That was okay. I was only there for the nachos. Marty had bought two plates of them! And these plates are huge by the way. He reckons two plates of nachos and the long Island set him back $60. i had brought a bit of change with me just in case I did by a drink, but I didn't end up using it. I love that I no longer have to pay those pesky $2 ATM fees again, ever. Best thing I ever did was joining the bank my cousin suggested to me around a decade ago.
There was a cake at the table, with a 'Goodbye and goodluck Shannon' (or something like that) written on it in icing. Apparently the boys were told the cake was fine to bring into the pub, so long as no-one threw the cake at anyone haha. The waiter was nice and brought over four plates and a knife for us. Handing drinking people a steel knife! Wow, I was impressed/alarmed :P As we cut the sponge cake, we realized it was full of M&M's!
So it was okay. We chatted about random stuff and of course work. Work is a hard topic to avoid among workmates. We spoke about rumours that were circulating and certain workmates who NEVER to tell anything to, as they simply cannot keep their mouths shut to save them. I had to laugh that my manager said he went to lunch with one of his staff, and that somehow turned into him going back to his apartment with her and having sex. HA!
We all chatted about staff that was just repeated from previous catch-ups, such as when my manager threw up all over my bathroom and how I managed to get all the boys to talk about their penis sizes. Shannon pointed to me and said, "You started that!" I said, "Of course I did! You were all drunk, what else was I meant to do?"
The boys all went to the Down Under bar afterward. I went in and there were a couple of cutish guys there, but I couldn't hear any of my workmates and we all left shortly afterward. My manager said he was staying, but as I walked in the other direction, I saw him walking with my other workmates, so he must've decided to run and catch up to them. It was an okay night. Nothing amazing, and I got to say goodbye to Shannon properly.
I've met one of the new staff members and she seems pretty cool. I've only heard about the other guy, who is apparently some guy in his 40's, an ex-government worker who was laid off by Newman. Apparently this was the only job that's come up for him so far. I said to my workmate it must be hard going from government pay to retail pay for him. I'm sure I'll get to meet him eventually.
We also have a new grocery manager who will be our nightfill manager the next two weeks, so I'm hoping he's nice. My manager says he is, so I guess I just have to wait and see. I'll see how good he is with staff management by how many times I get asked to come in next week haha.
My manager asked me if I can work extra hours the next three Mondays. He asked me this whilst I was shovelling nacho's into my mouth at after-work 'drinks'. I said, "You're asking me this NOW?" He said that he forgot to ask me whilst at work haha. Anyway, I said I'd do it. I get to apparently work with Rhys (as he's by himself otherwise), and well, hey, I have little issue with that :P
