Skeptical in Everyday Ramblings

For most of the last 13 years or so we have been at the beach on the 15th. Not this year. Kes and Most Honorable are going down on Wednesday and a friend of theirs is coming to visit while they are there.

Me, I am staying with the cats at their place about an hour south of here. Carlo and their two, Jack and Henry. Three boy cats. This is our last night at home before the great displacement. Everything is out of my kitchen. They shouldn’t need to move the refrigerator. If they do need to move the stove, I only put my everyday pans inside.

I have been busier than usual with League of Women Voter’s things and Open Road things. It been a kind of crazy few weeks, planning for being gone and teaching and doing all the things.

Hence, I am way behind in notes.

A few weeks back I started the Handstand and Pistol Squat Club that meets twice a week. Next week the fun stuff begins to happen. This ramp up has been about building strength in the joints. I hope I can keep up with it as my teacher records the sessions and I can use those on the days I have other things going on. I like doing it live though, as I work a tad bit harder with my camera on.

I don’t have any expectations I will be able to do an unassisted handstand or a deep pistol squat at the end, but I know I will be stronger, and more stable and that is my own personal goal. And it gives me great ideas of things to modify for my own classes. One thing you can say about my classes is they are not boring.

My big accomplishment this week though was clearing the clog in one of the bathroom sinks. The drain has been running slow for months. I had used some environmentally gentle product a while ago and had been using a plunger and a mix of baking soda and white vinegar repeatedly. But this week it wasn’t moving at all. I have had to use this sink because they disabled the plugs near my kitchen sink a few months back as part of this endless repair.

My kitchen sink still works, but they also disabled the disposal. Anyway, it is one of those make do things. In investigating gentle on the pipe’s solutions, I saw these things called drain weasels. You all probably know about them, but I had not.

I found out where to order them and they came yesterday and even in my befuddled a bit too tired state I figured out how to use one.

A bit gross, but it only took a few minutes. and the drain was clear!

I get to come home to at least one good thing on the 24th.

Carlo is a little disturbed by all the packing and moving things around. I keep telling him not to worry, that for once, he is coming with me, and we are not going to the vet. He remains skeptical.

Wish us luck and the beginning of the end of this repair nightmare.

With no packing or unpacking to do next week I hope to catch up with all of you.
