Woeful Winter Woes!!!1 in Majimaze Musing!

Hi there Readers!

  Well, I thought I had better write today while I have a chance.On Saturday, I had a really BIG flood.It had been raining of and on for a week and a lot on Friday!

Saturday dawned with heavy rain and strong Northerly winds.Gene the digger driver had dug a channel across the front of my place to try to minimize the amount of water streaming towards my place.The wind died down and the rain intensified.About midday it eased.I checked all the barricades and looked at the external wall and water was coming through and going under the internal wall between the tackroom and garage.The weather cleared and I relaxed a little and said to Penny,

"should be right if it stays fine!"

                                    Oh dear!Famous last words!An hour later it was raining even heavier and before my eyes the water shrugged off the barricades and was in my dressing room.Luckily I had put everything valuable up high!I put towels and all I had against the wall and door adjoining the living area!I wasn't hopeful.The rain just kept going and yes,the water came in!I gave up completely and retired to bed in despair!Rodney the property manager came downand rigged up

a drainpipe and we looked on helplessly!Finally at 4pm the rain stopped.And Chris ,Pennys ex and brother of Rodney came over and we created an internal bund in the garage with the rest of my towels and sheets.The bund stopped the water which was still flowing in then Chris went back to his place and got the dehumidifier and started it u.I took all the sodden mats outside and draped them everywhere.

                           The carpet tiles in the living room were underwater.Good things were:

My computer was fine.My landline phone still went and my television was going!Phew!

                           The kitchen area was  dry and my bedroom was dry.

I was a little crazy in my mind and devastated,however apart from that I was physically fine.Taitai was deeply traumatised!(well sort of) This manifested it self in him not wanting to go on the wet floor and jumping from couch to couch!Then whining when I put his food down and eventually jumping down to eat it.Very weird!I

                               It is now Wednesday and the  living area is nearly dry and later today I shall move the de-humidifier to the dressing room which is still damp!The mats are drying, one is beyond repair,however that is to be expected as it was a survivor of a major flood I had 4 years ago!It has done well.I have notified my landlord and he is going to pay the  power for the humidifier and heater.The remedial work hasn't started yet  and we are due for more rain on the weekend!Just pray for me!Ha ha!The last two days have been fine but cold so that is good.Cold I can handle.Wet.NO!!!

                                                               Okay,so thats my lot!Up North there have been far worse floods so I am very much aware of that and people far worse off than lil ole me.I am fine and do hope you all are too.
