I had Sewing with Nancy on at noon, for the noise, and also sometimes she has something I am interested in. Today she was making handbags, "pocketbooks" as my grandmother always referred to her bag. Not of much interest to me, but I was intrigued by her use of double-sided quilted fabrics. If she needed a single fabric, she just cut strips and used her scissors and seam ripper to take the fabric(s) away from the batting.
Anyway, then she had a woman on who has been instrumental in gathering information on quilts from all 50 states and other archives into one place. This is quiltindex.org.
WOW, there are 50,000 photos of quilts which you can browse by pattern, style, time period, and I forget all what else. Display is in a list or a grid. Information on the date, place, etc. of quilt is included with attribution to the collection or museum where the quilt is displayed/kept.
I swear if it isn't in there somewhere, there's no use looking anywhere else for an inspiration for a quilt. I am particularly fascinated by the sampler quilts.
So, you quilters especially check it out. I can see I could spend hours browsing, oohing and awing over the contents of this website.
It is still cloudy, rainy, misty, drippy. Yesterday and so far today, I would guesstimate visibility at a couple of blocks... sigh. I need sunshine. Sigh, I will take what is.
Blessed be!
