Well, we got home OK - although there were some transport problems, and I did not see the Germany/Brazil match live - and missed some fantastic soccer. Anyway, I have seen them now!!! We had a great trip, seeing family and friends, and eating well. I always enjoy the BP Portrait Exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery - it is fascinating to see the way artists take the form and use it - and this is the winner this year - a man with plaid blanket - nothing heroic but full of intensity. The Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy was great fun - and lots of food for thought - for those who like Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman here are two sketches accepted for the exhibition by Una Stubbs who plays their landlady Simple and direct and what about this - a man with lots of cakes on his back

And the empty plinth in Trafalgar Square has a big cock on it!!!
