Minimal interaction in Stuff

I almost got hit by the car the other day. An idiot went straight through a red light while I had the green-person to cross the street. The only reason it didn’t hit me was because it had slowed down enough to avoid being hit by cars that had the green light, so I’m lucky it was the late afternoon and therefore quite busy. In fact, I hadn’t even noticed the car, as I am always so deep in my own world of thoughts. I only realized when an Aboriginal guy was screaming at the car, “It’s a fucking red light, you moron!”
Lolz. So I’m having a fun March 2023, you could say, with my two near-death experiences, plus the food poisoning. Go me!

I know this mightn’t seem like such a big deal, but I finally changed my shoelaces on my Sketchers over to the ones that never need tying today. I’ve decided they will save me SO much time every day, between doing them up most days and then re-tying them every time they come undone during my many walks around the city. Now there’s no need for either of those things to happen. It took a few views of the instuctional videos on Youtube to figure out how to insert them properly, but I gave them a go walking around and I think I’ll be very happy with them. They look a bit weird but I’ll get used to that. Yay to slip on and off shoes! I have a white pair to put on my Converse as well, but those ones have lovely coloured laces the suit the shoe, so I may just leave those ones to keep tying up, unless I can find similar laces, although I think the white would still work.

The property manager came over today to have a look at my fan in my room. She agreed that it is very slow and took a video to send to the landlord. I’m hoping it will get replaced. Fans don’t cost that much, and it’ll be the first thing I’ve asked for in over four years of living here, so fingers crossed. I tried out my housemate’s fan that he says makes a noise and therefore he can’t sleep with it on, but I can’t hear a damn thing. Either I’ve gone deaf or he just likes to complain and run up the air-conditioner bill, which at the rate he’s going will add up to be well over $2000 a year. I’ve never had a housemate so obsessed with using it. There is a small silver lining in that our state Premier has given us rebates on our electricity bills, so we’ve had two months of no bill in that regard, which helps offset the gigantic thermal bill lol, but geez Louise, calm the fuck down. I get it gets hot and that Summer has really dragged on into Autumn this year, so we need to use it, but why can’t he be smart about it? It has a damn timer, which I’ve told him to use but he doesn’t. Housemates huh? At least he’s very clean.

I had a message from my boss yesterday asking if I wanted to work 10pm until 6am tonight. Apparently the fridges are being cleaned and they need two staff there, to supervise I suppose. He’s reasoning was that I could do the bulletin (basically a date-code check) without customers bothering me. I’d read it before my gym session and was contemplating accepting it (when would I sleep? It’d be an extra $100 with the penalty rates, I could get a lot done with no customers annoying me), and when I checked my phone after gym, there was a message saying, “Cancel that, Yogi has said he’ll do it.”
Phew. I’m off the hook. But man, way to make me overthink for an hour. I’ll be going in as usual. I’ve been told the rosters are being looked at, which I’m hoping is true, as the staffing in my department has been a joke.

It’s not as hot today, as there are storms coming through. I can guarantee my housemate will still turn the aircon on though lol.

I don’t have anything social planned, which is nice, but also not good for me. I’m far too much of a hermit and won’t meet a husband sitting in my home all the time. Can’t I get one delivered?
I did have a cute guy check me out yesterday as I was walking home from gym, so that was a nice boost.
I also ran into one of my workmates, Marty, as I was walking home (on the day that car nearly hit me). He was waiting at a bus stop and called out to me. I, again, had almost walked right by him, as again, I am always in my own world. Anyway, I was glad he did and we chatted for some time until his bus arrived. He teaches Kung Fu and was on his way to class. I had no idea he did that, despite knowing him for over a decade. He said he keeps it pretty quiet. Well that explains why he wasn’t at work on Saturday and why we were left with so much work on Sunday, as he does it Mondays and Saturdays, so I guess I won’t be seeing him anywhere near as much, as he does nightfill and I finish earlier now.
So yeah, minimal social interaction I suppose, unless I count the customers at work. One of the regulars is off to Florida and then Scotland until September! They own houses in both countries. What a life she and her husband seem to have.
