I thought of you in It's happened, what now.

I thought of you again today
It was slow and sweet and fleeting
I was stressed and pressed and tired
And queried a future meeting.

Normally this would not be sweet
It would not be good or joyful
To think about you near me
Would truly be quite awful

But this time it was different
I had something to say
I wished that I could see you
When you saw me win today

Today I woke up happy
But it rained on my parade
And as I marched on through it
The storm cloud grew more greyed

My tears drops joined the raindrops
My smile lost its tilt
My heartbeat raced the storm winds
My spirit began to wilt

But I kept marching through it
And slowly though it came
The way out to the other side
Was easier to claim

And I did this without you
I beat you at your game
The game that you created
Called claim, Blame, shame

Do you remember playing?
You were the very best
You start by claiming successes
We did it together! You’d jest.

Then you get to level 2
This was your claim to fame
Everything was my fault
You really rocked the blame game

Then we reach the top
It’s time to lay on shame
“You’ll never make it without me”
Was how you’d win that game.

But I have made it without you
I did before I will again
And today I wished you saw me
Beat all the levels of your game

Today I claim my successes
Today I hold no blame
Today I hold my head up high
Today I hold no shame
