We had a pair of beautiful white pelicans on our little lake for a few days. I guess the fireworks scared them away because they haven't been visible since the party.

Yesterday the temperature downtown hit 100. That's something we don't usually see here in Denver more than once or twice a year. However, a "cold" front moved in last night with wind and rain and a little hail and today is supposed to only be in the 80's. Maybe more storms throughout the rest of the week. lt's dark and dreary and humid out there this morning.

I have my Bible study class downstairs this morning and bridge with residents this afternoon. I haven't gone over my lesson yet, so I need to do that. We are studying women of the Old Testament this summer. I am not enjoying this series as much as some others. I know the leaders are trying to pick material that is less controversial for our non-denominational class, so I won't complain. They are trying hard to help us understand. Our teacher is Southern Baptist. Several members are Roman Catholic. Some, like me, are somewhere in between...

Bridge with the residents is interesting... We are all "seniors" (to say the least!) and have our "senior moments." I must say, though, that I admire these people...most of them in their late 80's, some in their 90's...who play a mean game of bridge! We only play for a couple of hours...that's our attention span. The other groups I play with go for about four hours.

I am reading a Catherine Coulter mystery. Big, fat, and juicy.

Saw my eye doc Saturday. The cortisone drops cleared up my problem for now, but she wants to see me again in a month.

Have an appointment with my PCP doctor on Friday to go over everything I've had done in the last few months. I need to make a list.

Looking at my calendar, it is the week for our "Cocktails & Classics" gathering here at the Event Center. A piano player is scheduled. That will be nice.

Better close this now and get out my books and do my Bible lesson. I hope all my favorites are well and safe....
