NO DEADLINES

For the first time in a while, I have no pending deadlines for tiktok/insta/facebook… etc.

I am such a fuckin procrastinator god damn. Unless I have a solid idea ready to go, I kind of just keep telling myself over and over that “I’ll sit down and plan some content first before getting ready to film” and then that never happens. So then when there is only like a week or so left I realize I’ll never finish unless I go 1000% speed and rush some shitty content.

Well that’s exactly what I did again with this most recent deadline. I needed to create four 3 minute videos for meta and the concept was that I’d attach a 360 camera to my drone and fly it in some interesting places, but after crashing my drone (I have like 7 drones but only one is powerful enough to carry a camera payload) it delayed the shooting so long I had to resort to just shooting around my area which is flat as a fucking pancake and very boring to look at haha.

Anyway so the house kind of took a beating over the past few months because I didn’t have the time to clean like I usually do. So over the past week Jessica and I have been tackling one things at a time and honestly it’s been looking cleaner than it ever has. So that’s been nice!

NEW BED

Oh and we got a new bed! So our old mattress was the lumpiest softest piece of crap ever. I think Jessica got it because it felt nice at the store, but the years were not kind to it and it just totally deflated in certain places. Also I’ve been wanting a larger bed for a while anyway because Jessica sometimes likes to spread out (and by sometimes, I mean almost every fuckin night haha).

What inspired the change was our trip to las Vegas recently. The bed at the hotel was not even that nice, but it was much firmer and king sized and we had never slept so well.

And shopping for the new mattress was actually super easy, because Jessica’s parents have this mattress from Sven and Son that Jessica has napped on a few times while we visited and really liked it. And it really is amazing.

The funny part of the whole experience was getting her 71 year old stepdad to help me move it all upstairs lol. I was really really trying to avoid this poor old guy having a heart attack in my house, so I made sure that I was doing basically all of the work and having him just hold the other end of these large boxes steady so they wouldn’t slam into a wall. It worked out though, he didn’t even seem that tired afterwards so mission accomplished, no old people dying in my house today.

So now we have this giant king sized mattress and a really nice adjustable based and it’s AMAZING. We also got these really expensive pillows from Tempur-Pedic because when Jessica and I got together she adopted my expensive pillow that I bought from Bed Bath and Beyond and used it for 5 years. So I decided this time let’s just splurge on two nice pillows and while spending nearly $300 on dumb pillows sounds stupid, they really do feel super nice so whatever the bonus sleep quality is worth it.

However we are having a small issue with the headboard bracket. You see, this adjustable base doesn’t include the bracket, it’s an optional accessory. So we pay the nearly 100 dollars for this piece of shit metal bracket lol and when it comes in, it doesn’t look like the photo on their store. Also the instructions don’t match the bed frame we have. I tried to install it anyway, but of course, it didn’t fit correctly.

So I think “alright no problem they sent us the wrong one we’ll contact them and have it swapped out. But they are actually really adamant that we have the correct bracket and we’re just installing it wrong. Now I’m no handy man, but I can handle some bolts and a bracket. know for 100% fact that this is not the correct bracket, but they are insisting it’s correct. So today I’m going to call them on the phone instead of email, because my guess is they’ve got the lowest paid employees answering the emails (at least I hope so). But if I have to take a damn video of the bracket on the bed to show them it doesn’t fit, I’ll do it.

MONTANA

So recently Jessica passed her pharmacy exams and she is officially a licensed pharmacist. Considering she went to a really nice school, she wouldn’t have much trouble getting into retail pharmacy anywhere she wants. However, she really doesn’t want to work in retail and would prefer clinical work.

The issue is that in order to get into that field, you HAVE to have residency experience. And that is the most competitive part of pharmacy, everyone is trying to do it. And while her grades were mostly good, she had a couple of issues with some of her clinicals in school and had to retake one, causing her to graduate late. And while that’s a thing that happens to plenty of pharmacy students, it’s unfortunately a devastating blow to her CV, which looks bad on her applications. So currently she was denied her residencies she applied for, but they have a second round pick soon so maybe she’ll be considered for something.

However, there are some other options. If you’re willing to travel, they have some areas that need help (indian reservations, impoverished areas… etc), and these can offer the clinical experience you need to get into that field. Basically, it could be an alternative to a residency.

So she’s currently talking to some recruiters about potential jobs and the one that seems most serious would be one in Montana. It’s a contract job, only 3 months, so we wouldn’t be moving there. Just finding a furnished apartment or something and keeping our home in Texas for now. But if there was ever a time to do something like that, now is the time! It would be much harder with kids or me if I had a real job lol.

Anyway that’s all for now (I mean there is more but I’m sick of typing).
