Yesterday – Thursday
By late morning the clouds had rolled in as forecasted, beneath our new off white canopy the weather was rather close, but Ziggy and Lola we quite ok with the car’s windows open. Ziggy sat upright look a little odd, sitting still with his fur blowing this way and every where, Lola was still in her crate below the level of window and travelling as she likes; curled up and looking as if asleep …
We arrive at Agility in good time, I reversed in to the only spot with some shade, I think it was just habit as there were clouds up there! Jo arrived with a lady holding a cute puppy, as the lady set of home Jo came over ‘the sheep are lose I’ll see if I can find the farmer’ As soon as Jo had gone the sheep arrived, with out a thought they went down the lane towards the road.
Watching twenty or more sheep’s bottoms disappearing towards the road my Daughter said ‘Should we do something’ As it was me who had grown up in rural Shropshire I said ‘yep I’ll go’ I walked down the lane wondering what to do, being behind the sheep I was only well placed to panic them; so I followed watching them. As they got close to the road several cars appeared, two of the cars stopped across the entrance, with the car in front and me a little way behind the took themselves into a open gate into a drive, so then I dashed to the end of the lane; and there I stood waiting to see what the sheep would do – with a glance behind now and then – just in case of a car arriving at speed.
The sheep came out and looked at me and went the other way, again I walk slowly behind them, as the got to the parking area Jo appeared from a side lane, we closed the gate after us, I was left holding the gate as there is no latch, Jo crossed to the gate into the field; with the gate wide open they went where they belong.
During our hour class there was a Constance ‘Barrr’ing’ from the sheep, seeming keen to have another adventure; so now an then Jo went to see what they were going. Apart from the adventure with the sheep Lola and Ziggy went round the agility course as had must have gone round on Sunday, the main work in the class was getting our dogs to listen to commands!
Today – Friday.
We awoke to an overcast sky and evidence of overnight rain, out side it felt to me as comfortable cool. Since then there as being short periods of fine rain blowing westerly through the valley.
Our forecast is for rain on and off through the day, and though the next few days a mix like today, overcast of course with rain some days and a few dry; now this is the British Summers of old – always have your ‘pack-a-mac’ close to hand!
Note, the pack-a-mac were plastic mac’s that folded very small, before use you could keep them in a pocket; but perhaps not after use! The Pack-a-mac was a part of the 60’s, now we have more rugged rainwear from shops for rugged people who shop in the rain!
