The Reunion in My this and that

Today I am thankful for so many days off and a great weekend with my darling husband. We had a fantastic trip, and enjoyed Canada Day together as well. What a blessing!

So, the reason I went to the reunion was mainly because my childhood best friend was going to be there, and she was travelling further than me to get there. We haven't seen each other since she flew out to attend my wedding, and I was most excited to spend some time with her, and meet her family (she is now married with two children who I'd never met).

My first evening in town Ben and I ran into her and her family while we were out for a walk, and we spent most of the weekend together. So when it came time for the actual high school reunion I'd really already done what I wanted to do - connect with my childhood best friend.

We went. I said howdy-do to the other people who had been in my class. I asked the appropriate "how are you, where are you, what are you doing now" questions... and that's all I really had to say to those people. I realized I had little to nothing in common with them when I was in high school, and now we had even less in common.

It was enjoyable enough though. There were fewer people than were expected which is a little too bad.

I had a great time showing Ben around the town where I grew up. We went swimming at the beach, for long walks, ate dinner at one of the only two restaurants in town. We enjoyed a tour at the mining museum which was kind of fun. I took him to the water falls that I used to frequent and we took some beautiful pictures.

We decided to drive home on Monday so we could be back for Canada Day. The day began with sleeping in, chocolate chip pancakes, and a re-watch of the first Transformers movie. We plan to go see the new one this coming weekend. I hope I don't need to remember anything about the third movie to watch this fourth one.

We walked up and down Osborne, then went to the Forks, then headed home for food and a nap. We joined our friends at their apartment to play some games, then went to the roof of their building to watch the fireworks. A very lovely day indeed.
