A Toast to KissOfLife! in The Stuff That's Not Interesting But Is The Most Interesting Stuff I'll Write

Honestly, New Year was a trainwreck so let’s just jump right beyond that.
A few weeks ago, I finally went on the Pride Cruise that goes all around Bangkok. It was fun and extremely random. I made acquaintances with the super famous photographer here when I helped him on karaoke (He sang “I Can’t Make You Love Me” but exclaimed “who is Bonnie Raitt” afterward, very amusing).
While I was there, I also met another guy. I was kind of lurking around him because he seemed like he was just my vibe. I found out later we were kind of circling each other because he liked my vibe, too. So I made a new friend, a genuine goddamn friend… and I owe it all to Matt (KissOfLife!).
So, he was born in Thailand but went to primary and secondary school in Hong Kong. After he finished school, he moved to Australia. When I asked him where, he said, “Oh, you’ve probably never even heard of it, no American has… Brisbane.” Cue side-smirk.
Through having read Matt for about 20 years, I actually have a pretty good knowledge of Brisbane, for someone who’s never been there. It also helps that Matt is quite literal in his writing, so I was able to recall how long it takes to travel somewhere, what kinds of people hang out in what spaces.... it was absolutely hysterical because it was like I’d spent 20 years studying for an exam.
Usually I run out of things to talk about, and truthfully, I did… but he could keep talking and I could have an oblique reference point to go by just by recall. He was up in the air about whether or not he’d get this job here and be able to move here permanently, or if he’d just go back. He got the job, he’s going back tomorrow to pack and he shall return at the end of February.
I also found out that my little brother is coming to visit me. Although I don’t exactly know when because my mother told me that Cameron had bought his ticket already. It would be nice if I’d known about it. In any event, good things coming.
I got invited to another exclusive “group event” next week. I’m not sure I’m up for it, I’m still recovering from the four nights in a row on New Years. Ugh, but that’s a different entry altogether.
