For a weekend with hardly any plans, I was busy for the entire time and I need a couple of days off to recover!
From Saturday morning I spent the whole day doing housework; I had a shower, then changed the bed, did two loads of laundry, cleaned out the birds, vacuumed, had lunch then washed up, repotted all eight of my tomato plants and built my jewellery mirror. It then took about 45 minutes to fill it up with my jewellery. It's great, I found all sorts of necklaces, bracelets and earrings that I'd forgotten I had because they've all been cramped into a little jewellery box.
By the time I'd done all of that, it was time to get ready to go out! Me and Jay went to Arbor Lights in Walsall for our anniversary meal. It's a bit out of the way and was quite quiet when we arrived, but I was impressed with it. They had nine option for main meals; two of them were vegetarian and one was vegan. I think that's an impressive choice, you normally get one veggie and no vegan option. I had filo parcels. I can't remember exactly what the fillings were but it was something and grape, tomato and mozzarella and something with chilli. They came with a pesto dip, brown chutney dip and mango dip. It was so delicious! I want it again right now.
There was a group of blind people in there with their guide dogs. I said to Jay I bet all the other dogs are jealous of guide dogs because they get to go places that other dogs don't. The dogs were sitting quietly so I asked if it was ok if I stroked one of them. The dog jumped up and started licking my leg, but I had tights on! So that was strange. They were all very lovely and we had a chat while I fussed the dogs.
We then went to the rock pub that we often frequent, but I wasn't impressed. I normally spend most of the time dancing but they didn't play anything I wanted to dance to, so that was a disappointment.
That night Jay wouldn't stop snoring, he sounded like a pneumatic drill. This always happens when he's been drinking, but it wasn't this bad. For about half an hour I was poking and prodding him, shouting him to stop snoring, rocking him, trying to turn him over, but he wouldn't wake up! I ended up sleeping in the spare room, which is fine except the curtains are really thin and yellow so, once the sun comes up, that's it. I was awake from 6:30am and just dozing after that.
On Sunday morning I had my Safe to Skate test. The posts on Facebook were saying it started at 12pm, so I was eating my breakfast at 10:45am, had another look and found out that time was wrong, it was supposed to be 11am! The venue is 30 minutes away so I was convinced I was going to miss it. I rushed to get out, drove over there and got there for 11:25am. Luckily for me, they'd all been faffing about and had only just got on track to start warming up, so I didn't miss it. phew
I wasn't expecting to pass as I still can't do transitions, among other things. But I was very pleased with what I did pass on including stepping, jumping, hopping, giving and receiving pushes, giving and receiving whips, avoiding unexpected obstacles and, unbelievably, I passed my 1.5 backwards laps in one minute! Just a couple of weeks ago I couldn't go backwards at all so that was a nice surprise. 23 laps in five minutes? I did 21.75! From 17 to 19 to 21.75...just a little extra push and I'm there!
There was also a written test, which I wasn't expecting and I'm bound to have failed horribly. I didn't even understand most of the questions and guessed them all. Looks like I need to swot up for next time!
Straight after, I drove home, had a shower and went to Jay's mam's house for lunch. When we got home it was 4:30pm already and the weekend was almost over!
That was a lot of waffling so I'll leave you with the news that I have another booking for pet sitting. It's the same lady I sat for last time, the one with the German Shepherd who has since been PTS, well she still has the Dachshund and there will also be her brother-in-law's nine month old pup there. She's also been sending me texts and photos of various friends and family of hers who she's been recommending me to, she's going to be keeping me in business all on her own, it seems! Onwards and upwards :o)
