Joaquin is 22 months old today! I can't believe he's two months away from being the big T-W-O. Puh-retty Cah-razy.
Anyway, it's 11:30p and I think he finally fell asleep about 40 minutes ago. Which is CRAZY since he normally goes to bed at 8:30p, but I think we are all still on California time even though we are in the Central time zone, so I think maybe it's fine.
Aaron's out on the town with his boyz at the moment, so its just me, a glass of cold vino and the computer, yo. A little Transformers action on the hotel teevee while I sip and write.
So far this trip to lovely Minneapolis has been pretty good. I had a fabulous evening out with all my girlz (four of my good girlfriends from high school) on Friday night, but then I paid for it all.day.long yesterday.
Yesterday was the Main Event, meaning the reason we timed this trip for the end of June/beginning of July. My beautiful niece, Frankie, graduated from high school and it was her big graduation bash. Her mom lives on the Mississippi River and it's a gorgeous house with a nice pool and a lovely view of the river. And in theory, a backyard bash sounded fantastic. Only, yesterday's weather consisted of a slew of thunderstorms with 'torrential' downpours, so a good portion of the bash was spent huddling inside a tent with a shitton of Frankie's family, her parents' friends and a gaggle of teenage friends. This was probably Joaquin's first thunderstorm as well, so it was quite a challenge trying to keep him contained under the tent when all he wanted to do was splash in the rain and make friends with the puddles. With lighting EVERYWHERE. it was a shitshow. But it still managed to be fun (albeit EXHAUSTING). Did I mention I was hungthefuckover? My bad, though. But yeah, it might have been the longest day ever.
I did manage to run almost 5 miles in the sweltering heat & humidity earlier that day through my little hometown, which was good for my hungover self.
Today started out much better. A 4-mile run today, but last night we stayed at a hotel downtown Minneapolis and our hotel happens to be next to the river as well, so we had a more scenic and lovely run with Joaquin in the jogging stroller. After that, Joaquin and I checked out the water park at our hotel, which just so happens to have a giant TRAIN as the centerpiece. Check it out! Joaquin was in choo choo heaven. After that we headed back to my sister-in-law's house on the river and had a leisurely pool day with just the immediate family. Nice, chill, vacation-like day. Then I took Joaquin back to the hotel and Aaron met the boyz out on the town and I'm sure there are shenanigans happening all over the place. SHENANIGANS.
Tomorrow is another pool day, and then Aaron's mom is going to watch Joaquin so we can both have an adult dinner night out with our sister-in-law. Very excited. Then she'll keep him overnight so Aaron and I can do a 10-mile run in the morning on Tuesday (!!!!!!!) Wish me all sorts of LUCK.
Anyway. I should call it a night. Big, fun day ahead with my lovely boys.
