Bromance in Current Events

The work Christmas party was pretty good I must say. Everybody was dressed so formally. They looked amazing. The prizes were pretty good as well. The food was alright but I have too many dietary restrictions so I couldn’t explore a lot of the food. However, my stomach was twisted after I ate. I ended up leaving early. Less than five minutes after the prizes were drawn I was out of there.

There was a lot of energy on the dancefloor. The first song came on and only a handful of people stepped up but then it transitioned to Punjabi music and the floor exploded with energy. There was no room for anyone else except those dancing and flailing around in circles. It was a spectacle to see. I felt too old to join them. I really wanted to get in there but the event was dry and dancing isn’t as fun. I felt bad for those that were forced to get out of the way and stay out of the way. I could see the blue-collar folk at their tables rolling their eyes and making comments about the scene.

My nerves were a little high when I pulled up to the venue. I was arriving solo and I wasn’t sure who was going to be there, where I was going to sit, and whom I was going to be able to talk to. Then I saw Mel. He did pull a look together after all. A dress shirt and a vest.

My team is clicky. One table was full of our full-timers and their spouses. They didn’t talk to anyone else. It was like that at various tables. I made my way around the room because I have connections all over the store. I’m a big personality but I kept my presence small last night. I was put together very nicely. I had a floral sport coat on. I dressed it down though. I wore a black mesh top underneath and put on my favourite rings and my favourite necklace that I’d never worn in public. It’s a big quartz crystal connected to a skull that has amethyst in it.

I was hoping to meet Adams’s fiance. I wanted to meet John’s wife as well. Adam’s fiance was sick and John didn’t show up. I did get to meet Shelly’s husband. She is my work mom. I know she is a Taurus, it’s so painfully obvious but she won’t tell me when her birthday is. She did read me her planet positions from her birth chart on Friday. Finally! I told her that I would find lots of Virgo in it and I was right. She has a stellium of Virgo. I predicted that Virgo was her rising but her rising is Pisces which puts Virgo in the seventh house, it’s her descendant. Close enough. My rising is Taurus which makes my descendant more Scorpio.

Mel and I have a bit of a bromance I am noticing. We are immediately joined at the hip when we work together. We never run out of things to talk about. Last night was very that. He and Adam are the only ones in my age group but Adam only talks about gaming and things of that nature. Mel is the only person who can connect to my interests. Astrology, terrain theory, sovereign integrity, and all the other goodies in the rabbit hole. It’s nice to have someone I can talk to who understands me, for the most part. He gets lost like everyone else at times. I use too many big words and the things I talk about are too high-concept, apparently.

I woke up ambitious to tackle the things that I am avoiding. However, I then got bitter that I need to do things around the apartment that my roommate can do but never will. I will spare this blog from that whole diatribe. I’m tired of talking about it. To her credit, she did just empty the dishwasher and dish rack.

Some things I prefer to do while I’m home alone. I do a lot of it from my computer and she can’t walk by without looking over my shoulder or staring at what I am doing. She’s too stoned to notice, she probably doesn’t even know what she is looking at. Here I go, starting the diatribe. She actually just left, I’m not sure where she is off to but I have an opportunity to do my shit. The day is still young, I promised myself a while ago that I would do my routines backwards so that my avoidance routines become my treat. So to speak. On with it then.
