When I noticed a facebook friend posting photos of NYC, I realized she was in the city. I got in touch with her on FB and arranged for us to meet this morning before she started on her exploration of the city.
Before meeting, I went to the post office to send out a letter, 6 books, and two postcards (to postcrossing members - people in far away countries).
Then I went downtown to meet the friend - she's staying in a hotel in the tourist area - OMG!!! There are so MANY tour bus offerings. We went to a small place for coffee - she had juice - and talked - for almost an hour. It was nice to get to meet her. She's got a lot of issues in her life with the business she's running. I hope that some of the suggestions I made would be useful.
I returned her to her hotel, then walked uptown. I still hadn't eaten, but the restaurant I was planning on going to wouldn't open for over an hour. So I kept walking uptown, went to the atrium south of Lincoln Center, read my book for a while, then returned to the restaurant. I love their food - great Indian food!!
Afterwards, I went to the matinee of The Cripple of Inishmann. It will be closing in a few weeks, and I wanted to see Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) on stage. The acting was good, the set was great... I just didn't like the writing, hence didn't like the play. Now I know, I just won't go to another play by that author... no matter who's in the cast.
I've been reading a book - it's from the 1970's - The House by the Sea by May Sarton. I really like it a lot. I'd never heard of this author, and now have to look up what else she's written. She's written journals, poetry and novels. I'll request all but the poetry... just not that into poetry.
