Alright, I haven’t started any drama at work. Yesterday I learned who got the position I applied for and it was Tyson. I was the one who encouraged him to do it. He replaced Mike. They hired another part-timer as well. Now, the rest of us part-timers are in shock. Absolutely shocked by how reduced our hours are. We are talking 2.5 shifts a paycheck. The part-timers who are retired and just working because they are bored don’t care that much. They’re just upset because their 2-3 8.5hr days are 5.5 long now. The rest of us are sprucing up our resumes because we got to take care of our own.
I overheard my boss on a conference zoom call. She, and supervisors of other teams, were being coached on what to say to us in response to this cut in hours. They appear confused about why they are getting a backlash. They cut the number of hours allocated to us to service the store to 50%.
I am not crazy concerned. This happens every January, however, not this severely. It also helps that we are all going through this together, the part-timers. We’re all reacting the same way and are on the same page about it. It feels less stressful.
On the weekend I will look around online to see what opportunities are out there. It would be nice to find a gig at a Naturopath clinic, doing reception or something.
Other than that work has been absolutely fun since Mike left. We’re all coming out of our shells. Things are going smoothly. I can’t believe they tried to keep him.
Anyway, I’m trying to gas myself up for that new year new me energy. I don’t want to carry this right now. I just want to have a detox bath right now.
