Woke up from a dream to knocking at 6 and was immediately panicked. I tried to stumble out of bed, but with my lack of balance, it was a fight to stay on my feet. I fell in 3 directions before finding my feet. Then, I realized I was wearing no pants. Wrapped a blanket around my waist and made my way across the kitchen to the front door. I yanked it open…and saw no one, even in the parking lot. I turned on the porch light, noticed the door had been unlocked before I opened it, so if it was either roommate, they wouldn’t have needed to knock. Also, why was it unlocked? I locked it and returned to my bed, where I tried to figure out how I’d slept through the whole day, why I wasn’t hungry, my body didn’t ache and I didn’t know what to do next. Frantically, I assumed my cellphone plan must have been turned off and my mom might have been worriedly texting me all day and popped by to check I’m okay. Failing to refill a service already through January, I realized my phone was still active. I texted my mom to ask if it was her that knocked, thanked my landlord for shoveling, and had a conversation with my friend about my confusion, before having a sinking thought that perhaps it was…6 AM…not PM. I opened my phone and checked my clock app…AM. THIS CHANGED EVERYTHING.
