just because I don't understand your lifestyle choice
as golfers
doesn't mean I think you shouldn't be allowed to get married
it's not my thing
I'd prefer to not golf myself
I'd prefer to not watch your golfing
but just because the whole thing
is distasteful and bizarre to me
who am I to tell you
not to golf on your own time
I mean I experimented with golfing
we all did a little mini-golf in college
but it just never stuck with me
I never got much out of it
but that doesn't mean that it's wrong for you
it's just not my thing
I'm not afraid of it
it just doesn't do it for me
I couldn't handle wearing the loud clothing
the precious little textured gloves
the spiky fetish shoes
let alone the little pride parade
they hold in the sweltering Augusta Georgia heat
but I'd never tell them that they can't
as long as they let all genders and ethnicities march too
march up and down that patch of green
in their garish costumes
I don't understand
the golf subculture
I don't know if they're born that way
or if something happened to them
to make them desire something
so goddamned strange to me
but I'd never tell them they can't golf in their sweaty little clubs
I'd never tell golfers
that they can't get married
I'll never understand what compels these people
to spend their time putting in the rough
obsessed with little balls and tiny holes
but man
I'd never tell them they can't love what they love
that would be stupid
