Trackball in General

I now have two 27” curved Samsung monitors.
What is currently pissing me off is I can’t speed up the trackball.
I want to be able to go from the upper left of the left monitor to the low right of the right monitor with one movement.
I currently takes a dozen spins of the trackball.
I miss my Logitech Trackman Marbles.
I bought the first one in San Diego in ’98 and thought I would never be able to get used to it.
But once you get used to it, it is the only way to fly.
At one point I had three of them. One got thrown against the wall midst divorce. The other
two played port and starboard at work until one died. Then the other died.
Logitech, in their infinite wisdom discontinued the line – replacing them with a much smaller trackball. While serviceable, really isn’t a satisfactory replacement.
Anyone who had to sit in for me while we were working database issues on my computer was dismayed at the Trackman, and the speed I had the cursor set at.
I want the cursor where I want it.
As fast.
As I can see where I want it.
This scrolling, scrolling, scrolling is for the birds.
Different Subject:
Labor Day
One of those weird things that happens when I am not working is I turn holiday weekends sacrosanct.
I do nothing.
Normally Sunday afternoon is maintenance time.
I wash the car, change the sheets, do the laundry, refill the vitamin and med sorters. Wash the kitchen floor. Mow the lawn.
That shit all fell to today. Except half that stuff couldn’t be done because it has been raining for the last two days.
Good call on grilling that cowboy ribeye on Saturday, though! Damn!
Break Break
The phone rings too often. No caller ID. No message.
The problem is I am expecting a call with an offer, so when the phone rings I just about jump
out of my skin.
My “bank guy” who has been analyzing when I will be able afford to finally buy this condo, which has been my home for eleven years sent me an email asking if I could a certain amount down, an certain amount closing etc etc.
Haven’t answered because while doable, certainly more doable if the PM job comes through when my income doubles or more.
Complete bonus. The facility where I would work is only 2 miles away. Literally a minute down the road from Wallyworld. And they have A REALLY BIG PARKING LOT.
Big deal around here.
GDBIW is a descendant of the Hyde Windlass company, established in 1884.
At all of the facilities, the parking lots are quarter acre lots. And they have five thousand employees.
This facility has a great big parking lot.
No real clue exactly what I would be responsible for.
But predictive me knows what I’ll e doing:
Reacting to questions from senior management who never lead turn the problem.
Probably putting together briefs and running meeting.
Putting together queries to gather information.
Eventually putting my databases back together again.
Before I quit last time, I had started putting together a database that pulled anything that had anything to do with anything and linking all the tables.
I started jokingly referring to myself as “Cyberdyne.” It was strangely fun.
Until I quit.
