Anti-Vaxers are the latest manifestation of Special Snowflake Syndrome. Low information, insecure and highly narcissistic individuals who revel in their "knowledge" of the "truth" that others do not possess.

It provides them with validation and a sense of self-worth and specialness. You'll quickly discover that facts are anathema; they don't want facts. What's more, they really don't want to hear facts and they hang out in internet hugboxes where other people just like them can re-enforce each other's opinions and sense of persecution from "the sheeple". This contributes to their nonexistent self-awareness and inability to understand why they usually come off as completely unhinged to the rest of society.

Their own "theories" - and I use scare quotes for a reason here - aren't theories in the traditional sense, but a jumble of incoherent and constantly-changing beliefs that don't usually agree with each other, but find a home in the minds of those who desperately feel the need to be the smartest person in the room.

Everything is connected in truly bizarre and nonsensical ways. Everyone is always in on it and against them. They see themselves as standing up for "truth", "freedom" and, quite often, not liking non-whites/Jews, etc. The latter is easy to spot, as they're not nearly as intelligent as they perceive themselves to be and can't help but use drop-in replacements for traditional pejorative or racial / ethnic / religious identifiers.

I know the type of folks you are referencing and they drive me crazy. The entire 'vaccines cause Autism' thing was debunked...a good majority of the supposed 'increase' in cases of Autism are simply misdiagnoses and some of these parents would rather use pills than parenting.

But preferentially, I would prefer my child to NOT die from a preventable disease because I thought that vaccines might be harmful. (which I don't).

We'd all be dead from TB, polio or measles by now if it weren't for vaccines. In my country, nobody is against vaccines - because that would be suicide.

I guess some people would rather have their children die than risk the 0% chance the vaccines will make them more difficult to raise. Better dead than abnormal, right?

Fuck knows what goes through the minds of these dumbasses.
