Angry in 2020

I know I neglect this diary badly. I read frequently but just am not motivated to write often.

That being said, this week has been a lot. My sister left her husband, my kids are doing exams, I’m just busy busy busy. But the leaked Roe opinion has me on fire.

I’m 48 years old. Abortion has been legal for longer than I’ve been alive. I copy-pasted a status from another friend of mine into my FB status and one of my old homeschooling acquaintances replied with some bullshit that does not take into account the actual things that cis het white male legislators are saying on the floor of their legislatures, but just cries “murder!” on any termination of pregnancy.

She’s a reasonable human being for the most part, but I’m not here for this. I want to burn it to the ground.

Abortion will never be stopped. It can be made illegal, but that just prevents safe abortion. Women will die because they can’t fathom how to live with a pregnancy, but there is no safe medical way that they can terminate. Women will be imprisoned for “murder”, while the men who impregnated them will walk free without consequences, or get a slap on the wrist for their actions. Women will die because politicians don’t understand a D&C, or the agony of having to carry a stillborn baby to full term, or any host of other things that are not uncommon.

I had a great discussion about this with my 14 yr old this morning. We are planning to go to any protest we can find in town next weekend. I’m done being quiet.
