Once I dreamt in anticlimatic

I remember sitting on the couch of my parents living room watching something strange and British on PBS. Outside it was a very dark spring day. Dark green shadows and showers streaked down the windows. The phone rings in my dad’s little office by the door. He’s around, in his work clothes. He walks down the hall and sits down at his desk. Distant. In the world of workers and adults, far from my tiny childhood dream of feeling safe, and safely outside any world of consequence or decision. On the television screen, something older than me- but fresh, cool, and modern- courted the attention of elder generations. It was a beautiful, fascinating world to witness as a child outsider. Has the world changed or have I?
