Notice a Theme Here? in Everyday Ramblings

The color is so close to true here on this slightly squashed rose and I love the shape of the petals.

Oldest sister came home from the hospital yesterday afternoon. She is in a fair amount of discomfort but that is to be expected, as this was major surgery. She is happy to be home. Kes had a restless night on the couch in the next room. Information should start coming in soon about next steps but for now my sister is trying to learn how to eat again and rest and rest some more. It will take weeks for her to heal and then more weeks to build back her strength.

Kes is doing a terrific amazing thing being there and letting our niece and great niece run off to rehearsals and work and school and hours and hours of movies at the Seattle International Film festival and take a break from being caregivers. Miss E. has her annual dance school end of year performance this coming weekend. She’ll be dancing on point for the first time publically.

I did the last big training this morning on my project rollout. With everybody just back from the long weekend the tone was a bit subdued and so it was not as lively as I had hoped but Saint Joe said he thought it went very well. I am glad to have it over. All the training from now on will be one on one in offices up on campus, which means I get to walk up there and back. Always good for my activity level. And it is nice to have a break away from my desk and the constant flow of emails.

The census will be low because of the holiday weekend up on the cancer ward so it will be interesting to see if I have any students for caregiving class tonight. A low census is a good thing. Obviously, we all want these kids home with their families.

I’ve decided to do the fundraising fun walk/run for aiming for a cure for melanoma early this coming Saturday. I am an introvert and am not going to drive myself crazy asking for pledges. I’ll just donate the minimum. I am actually kind of interested in spending a little time with other folks who have experienced what I have and although I had a lovely three day holiday weekend I didn’t do a darn thing about, um, enhancing my social life.

Sigh.
