It’s been a crazy couple of weeks, but I think things are starting to settle down. Child #2 finally tested negative for Covid yesterday, which means she can go back to therapy today - her therapist’s wife is immunocompromised so the therapist didn’t want to take any chances, which I completely understand! It’s just frustrating that the CDC isn’t taking this more seriously. At least my kids have been good about wearing masks, and none of the rest of the family ever tested positive.
Things at work are settling down too. Not sure if I wrote about this when it happened, but my boss had a kidney transplant in November - apparently she’d been on the list for a year, but she’s very private so she didn’t mention it to anyone until she got the call that they had one for her! So she was on leave for November and December, and now she’s working part time from home. It’s nice to have her in on the loop again, I was paranoid that we were letting things slip through the cracks while she was gone. I can do most elements of her job, but I’m still part time and twenty hours a week is not enough to get it all done! I’m very glad she’s working from home, though - I wouldn’t want her to risk getting exposed to Covid on top of recovery from her surgery! And at most about half of our patrons are wearing masks, because ‘Murica. Sigh.
Speaking of covid deniers, my friend who won’t get vaccinated because of her husband seems to be putting some distance between us. I may have gone off on a rant in a group chat a few weeks ago when my kid got covid, and it wasn’t aimed at her but I think she felt it anyway. I’m sorry if she’s hurt, but seriously - GET THE DAMN VACCINE. She’s too smart to be saying things like, “If everyone else in our friend group is getting it, what does it matter that I don’t?” (The answer, by the way, is THAT’S NOT HOW SCIENCE WORKS AND YOU KNOW IT.)
It’s raining and cold today, which means it’s quiet at the library, and I’ll take it. I’m only here for another hour and then I don’t come back until Monday. Maybe I can read or do something productive this weekend! I’ve been playing Stardew Valley maniacally, I really need to take a break from that.
