She likes Terry in A mish mash of entries

The girlfriend is actually quite nice. We have a lot in common including the authors we like to read and we both belong to blogging sites (although my attendance at OD and here in recent years isn't so good). She’s a wannabe writer and quite happily spends time writing while son is at work (he went back yesterday). I took her to one of our local charity shops and she bought a few books, including one by Terry Pratchett. This is a very good thing.

However, it’s weird, I don’t feel I should be “friends” with my son’s girlfriend, but I don’t feel like I’m a generation ahead of her either. Maybe because of her responsibilities at home, she’s quite mature - she's a carer for her mum, who has Alzheimer's and her dad, who is on kidney dialysis. She had to employ live-in help to take this holiday. She and son are still getting on well which, considering the forced 24/7 togetherness for the last two weeks, is pretty good.
